When it comes to diving, Koh Phangan is like a divers hidden secret - Sail Rock! Koh Phangan is known as 'the party island' when in fact we are located closest to Sail Rock which is a premier & world-renowned dive site. It is classed as #1 in the Gulf. of Thailand. Sail Rock is, by far, the most prestigious place you could want to dive and it is practically a second home to us at Phangan International Dive School as many of our diving take place here.

For those who don't know about Sail Rock… This 30 metre dive site has earned its reputation due to a number of elements. Firstly, this triangular shaped pinnacle contains a vertical swim through inside, also known as the “chimney”. An entry at 12 metres enables you to swim inside the rock itself, allowing you to witness all the marine life within it, a very intimate experience whilst diving. There is an exit at 18 metres too. In addition, the glorious amounts of colourful reef and coral that surrounds the entire rock make it the perfect place to live for hundreds of species of marine life. This means your dives at Sail Rock will be unique and unforgettable. Hence the nickname “fish soup.” Don’t forget that this dive sight has the highest number of Whale Sharks sightings in Thailand too, so if you want the opportunity to see one then this is the dive site for you!

If you are traveling on a budget then our Backpackers option of dive courses with local dives at dive sites such as Ko Ma and Mae Haad will save you thousands of Baht and we still throw in a free dorm bed if you want!

Never dived before? Limited on time? No certification needed! Then the Discover Scuba Diver Introduction is the ideal solution. Dive the amazing Sail Rock as part of your DSD two dive introduction!

You will dive assisted by an instructor at a maximum depth of 12 meters at Sail Rock. When asked about marine life its a simple answer, fish soup!

Before you will be allowed to dive, you will have instruction on board the boat which takes about 50 minutes to the dive site, plus in-water training off the buoy line at approximately 3 metres under the surface. Then, following training, an instructor will hold onto you for your first dive and if you show full competance maybe let you dive alongside him freely on your next dive.

You need not be worried if you are lucky enought to see a whale shark as they are not dangerous as they are filter feeders with no teeth feeding on the small plankton microbes in the oceans waters.

If you are extremely nervous, there is the option to undertake your training the day before in our swimming pool at no extra charge, but you need to inform us on a separate email when making the booking.

This is a cheap and fantastic way to experience scuba diving in just one day, without having to take a three or four day PADI certification course and you can do it at one of the leading dive sites in Asia!
